Based on a Singapore Tourism Board (STB) media advisory dated 27 October 2026. Checked on 31 October 2026 (IST).
Indian visitors planning a photo at Singapore’s most famous landmark in late November should check their dates. The Singapore Tourism Board says the main Merlion statue at Merlion Park will undergo cleaning and repair works from 24 to 26 November 2026.
During those three days the statue will be covered in scaffolding and will not be available for photos. STB says visitors can still take photos with the smaller Merlion cub statue nearby in the same park. It also warns that the works and barricades may cause some inconvenience.
What to do
- Travellers: if the Merlion photo matters, visit Merlion Park before 24 November or after 26 November.
- Tour operators and agents: groups touring Singapore on 24–26 November should plan another photo stop or tell guests about the closure in advance. City tours that include Merlion Park on those days may need to change their wording.
