Based on a Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) press release dated 30 October 2026. Checked on 1 November 2026 (IST).

Phuket will host the Global Wellness Summit (GWS) 2026 from 10 to 13 November, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) plans to use it to promote Thailand as a wellness destination. The summit is organised by Thailand’s Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine (DTAM), with TAT, the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and Phuket Province as co-hosts.

The event

  • Venue: Angsana Laguna Phuket
  • Theme: “The Science, Art & Soul of Wellness”
  • Expected attendance: around 600 Thai and international delegates, including industry leaders, investors, academics and medical experts
  • Opening: TAT says Her Majesty Queen Suthida is scheduled to preside over the official opening on 11 November.
  • Programme: delegate welcome on 10 November; keynotes, panels and roundtables from 11 November; a student “Shark Tank of Wellness” competition, an Innovation Lab and a gala evening on 12 November; and the announcement of the 2027 host destination on 13 November.

What TAT will show

TAT’s campaign line is “Healing is the New Luxury”. At the summit it will run a booth called “Thailand Wellness Journey: The Ultimate Healing Sanctuary”, showing wellness routes across Thailand’s five regions that combine traditional medicine, massage, food, culture and nature. Other exhibitors named in the release include DTAM, TCEB, Laguna, BDMS Wellness Clinic and Chiva-Som.

TAT says it wants to link Thai wellness operators with overseas partners and build trips that combine health with food, culture and community life. This fits the “Value over Volume” direction TAT set out for 2027, which we reported on earlier.

Why it matters for India

  • Agents and DMCs: wellness is one of TAT’s stated priorities, so expect more wellness packages and partner offers from Thai suppliers after the summit. It is worth asking Thai partners for wellness itineraries for Indian clients.
  • Travellers: Phuket resorts will be busy with delegates around 10–13 November, so book early if you plan to stay near Laguna on those dates.
