The fifth Bangkok Art Biennale (BAB 2026) opens on 29 October 2026 and runs until 28 February 2027, which covers Indian travellers’ winter holiday season. Its theme is “Angels & Mara”. TAT says it explores the tension between “guardians of light and forces of temptation”.

What’s on

According to TAT, the biennale features more than 200 artworks by 72 artists of 29 nationalities. Works are shown at 11 venues:

  • temples: Wat Arun, Wat Pho and Wat Prayoon;
  • museums and arts centres: the National Museum Bangkok, Museum Siam, the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, the Art Centre at Silpakorn University and Alliance Française Bangkok;
  • shopping and mixed-use centres: One Bangkok, centralwOrld and Siam Paragon.

TAT highlights Leiko Ikemura’s Memento Mori at Wat Pho and Liu Jianhua’s Square (Siamese Triangle) at the National Museum Bangkok. Side programmes, BAB Plus and BAB Fringe, extend to galleries and independent spaces in Bangkok and nearby provinces.

The biennale has been held every two years since 2018. TAT says the 2024 edition drew more than 1.2 million visitors and an estimated 3.54 billion baht in tourism revenue.

For agents

Several venues, such as Wat Arun, Wat Pho and Siam Paragon, are already standard stops on Bangkok city tours, so the biennale can be added to existing itineraries. TAT points visitors to the BkkArtBiennale pages on Facebook and Instagram for schedules.
