Based on a Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) release of 28 October 2026. Checked on 30 October 2026 (IST).
Thailand recorded 1,896,058 arrivals from India between 1 January and 26 October 2026, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). The figures appear in TAT’s release on the first Air India Express flight from Visakhapatnam to Bangkok, which landed on 27 October.
Flights and seats
TAT says that, as of 1 October 2026, 11 airlines fly between India and Thailand. They offer 427 weekly flights and 83,517 seats in October. Based on schedules available on that date, TAT puts the full-year 2026 total at 18,659 flights and 3,687,569 seats.
What Indian visitors do
TAT’s profile of the Indian market:
- Spending and stay: an average of 41,009 baht per person per trip, and 6.98 nights.
- Who travels: 70.70% are independent travellers and 65.77% are first-time visitors.
- Why they go: 90.82% of visits are for leisure. Beach activities, Thai food, nightlife, and massage and spa are the top interests.
- Where they go: Bangkok, Chon Buri, Phuket and Krabi lead. TAT names Ayutthaya, Phang-nga, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai as places to add to itineraries.
Visa reminder
TAT notes that Indian passport holders have been in Thailand’s 30-day visa-exemption category since 15 September 2026. This means stays of up to 30 days without a visa.
What it means for the Indian trade
TAT says it is stepping up promotion in India’s emerging city markets. It is targeting millennials and Gen Z, families, high spenders and MICE groups. It plans to work with airlines, tour operators, wedding organisers and online travel platforms, and to push destinations beyond the main tourist centres. For agents outside the big metros, this signals that TAT is looking for partners in their markets.
