The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has signed a two-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) with GetYourGuide, the online marketplace for tours and activities. The aim is to build a better supply of Singapore tours and experiences and sell them to travellers worldwide. The MoU was signed at GetYourGuide’s headquarters in Berlin by STB Chief Executive Melissa Ow and GetYourGuide CEO Johannes Reck.

What the deal covers

STB lists three areas of work:

  • Market insights: the two sides will share data on what travellers want, to find gaps in Singapore’s experiences.
  • Co-ideation: they will work with tourism businesses and tour providers to create new or improved Singapore experiences.
  • Joint marketing: they will look at joint campaigns to raise the profile of Singapore’s tours and activities.

STB says this is GetYourGuide’s first international destination marketing partnership outside Germany.

Why it matters for India

The release does not name India or any other source market. Still, it fits a pattern: this month STB also announced partnerships with Booking.com and Visa. For Indian agents, it signals that Singapore wants visitors to spend more on activities, not just hotels and shopping. Expect more bookable Singapore tour products on global platforms over the next two years, which may also mean more options for agents who source activities online.
