Based on a joint IndiGo and Adani Airport Holdings release dated 25 October 2026. Checked on 27 October 2026 (IST).
IndiGo plans to begin international flights from Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) in February 2027. In a joint release with Adani Airport Holdings (AAHL), which runs both Mumbai airports, the airline says it is in the final stages of the plan.
Which flights move
IndiGo will gradually shift 12 daily international departures from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), Mumbai’s main airport, to Navi Mumbai. The release says these are all of IndiGo’s current Mumbai flights to:
- Gulf: Bahrain, Riyadh, Dammam, Jeddah, Madinah, Kuwait, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Muscat
- Asia: Dhaka and Jakarta
IndiGo will also add a new daily Kathmandu service. Together this gives IndiGo 12 international destinations from Navi Mumbai between February and July 2027. Some domestic flights will also move so that passengers can connect at Navi Mumbai.
What stays uncertain
IndiGo says it will announce the final transfer dates only after project coordination is complete and operating approvals are in place. Until then, treat February to July 2027 as a window, not a schedule. Note also that IndiGo’s Saudi Arabia flights are currently suspended; see our earlier report on the Saudi suspensions and check IndiGo’s latest advisories.
What it means for agents
- From 2027, Mumbai-area clients flying IndiGo to the Gulf, Dhaka or Jakarta should expect to use Navi Mumbai, not CSMIA. Check the departure airport on every ticket and itinerary.
- The freed-up space at CSMIA will be used for new IndiGo routes across Asia, Africa and Europe in 2027, according to the release, using A320/A321 and A321XLR aircraft. No routes were named.
- The move is also linked to the planned redevelopment of CSMIA Terminal 1 by 2030.
