IndiGo’s non-stop flights between Gaya and Bangkok are now running. The service was flagged off on 26 October 2026, the start date IndiGo gave when it announced the route in August.
What was confirmed
- Samrat Choudhary, whom IndiGo’s post addresses as Bihar’s Chief Minister, posted in Hindi on 26 October that he had launched IndiGo’s first non-stop international flight between Gayaji and Bangkok. He said it would strengthen Bihar’s international air links and support tourism and cultural exchange.
- IndiGo quoted that post the same day and thanked him, saying it was proud to support “the enduring Buddhist - cultural and spiritual bond between Bihar and Thailand”.
Route details
IndiGo’s August announcement describes the service as non-stop and bi-weekly (two flights a week) between Gaya and Bangkok. IndiGo has not published flight times or aircraft type in the materials we checked, so confirm the schedule on IndiGo’s website or through your booking system.
Why it matters
Gaya is the gateway to Bodh Gaya, one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites. A direct link makes pilgrim and heritage tours between Bihar and Thailand much simpler, with no need to connect through Delhi or Kolkata. Thai AirAsia has also announced a return to Gaya from Bangkok Don Mueang; see our routes tracker for the latest status.
Indian passport holders can visit Thailand visa-free for up to 30 days. Check our visa tracker for the conditions, including the digital arrival card.
