More direct flights
According to the Vietnam News Agency, Ambassador Trinh Minh Manh said the two governments recently agreed to double direct flights between Vietnam and India, so airlines on both sides can launch more routes. The report does not give the new number of permitted flights or a date. We will update this story when an official text is published.
The ambassador also pointed to Vietnam’s broad rollout of e-visas for Indian citizens. India and Vietnam upgraded relations to an Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in May.
Trade notes
- Vietravel DMC said it has launched two new product lines for India’s middle-class travellers: tours to major Vietnamese destinations, and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and events) travel.
- A MakeMyTrip representative told the agency that Indian arrivals in Vietnam could exceed 1 million in 2026, with growth of nearly 70% possible in 2027. This is the company’s estimate, not an official figure.
