What’s reopened
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) says the Andaman coast’s high season has started:
- Similan Islands (Phang Nga): reopened on 15 October after a five-month monsoon closure. TAT says more than 1,300 visitors arrived on opening day.
- Maya Bay (Ko Phi Phi Le): reopened to visitors on 1 October.
- TAT expects the dry season proper to settle in by December.
The rule to know before booking
TAT says six marine national parks have used electronic tickets since October 2025. They include Similan, Surin, Phi Phi, Phang Nga Bay and Ko Lanta. TAT advises visitors to buy tickets in advance and have their passport ready. TAT’s article does not name the sixth park or link to the ticketing site.
Practical notes from TAT
- Rain is still possible in October and early November, and boat operators may cancel trips in high waves. Build in a spare day.
- Book ferries and island stays early for December and January.
- TAT suggests 10 to 12 days for a multi-province trip from Phuket to Ko Lipe, taking in Khao Lak and Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang and Satun.
Why it matters
- For travellers: Indian families heading to Phuket or Krabi in Diwali and winter breaks should plan Similan, Phi Phi or Phang Nga Bay day trips knowing they need e-tickets. Keep a buffer day for weather cancellations.
- For agents: Make sure tour operators include the national-park e-ticket in island-hopping packages, or tell clients to buy it themselves. Collect passport details early.
